"I have used this unit for less than 1 month so I do not have an idea how long it will last. But it is very easy to use and since it gets its power via USB, it is convenient to use also. Like all HD based storage devices, the moving parts inside will fail at some point especially when it is moved around."

"This is a good drive for use with Windows XP. But I also purchased it for use with 98SE from which I run my web sites. Although the instructions accompanying the drive tells you to go to the IOgear site and download drivers for Win 98SE, the download will not activate drivers. Support finally told me that IOgear does not support 98SE, for this drive. So I am back to using my Maxtor External USB 40 gig drive. Although it is more cumbersome, with the required power pack, at least it operates with all my computers. Since IOgear does not seem to know what systems their equipment will work with, I would never buy their products again. No reflection on Buy.com, their delivery was fast and prices reasonable, as usual."

"Product worked immediately without any installation requiremnt. Also, I was able to store my files, music and video without any problems. In addition, product is formatted into three partitions, which give you the convenience of storing your data where you want and finding with ease..!!! I was also able to transfer files from the laptop to my pc and vice versa without installig additional software and using a cable..!!! I recommend this product 100% It was right for the price...!!!"

"Great item overall. Works well, quick to transfer files, and easy to transport. Perfect size if you use a bag, not too small to lose, not too big to not want to carry. My only problem is when I got it, the three drives were 31.9GB, 31.9GB and a 10.5GB. Everyone else seems to have a 30/30/20 split. I reformatted into one drive and its 74.5 GB."

"I have several portable hard drives but this is the best. It is smaller than my other 80GB portable drives and with one USB cord that performs both power and data transfer it is easy to use and keep up with. The icing on the cake is that it was the least expensive 80GB portable I've bought yet."

"I found no flaws at all with this drive. While I have just received it, I plugged it into my Dell Latitude system and had it immediately recognized. Reformatting the three partitions with which it came into one, and then back to two, proved absolutely no challenge at all. I found that the USB cable that functions with the Motorola Razr and like products (mini-USB without the ballast) worked just as well as the included cable to connect the drive. It's small, it's pretty, and it has twice the storage capacity of the drive my Latitude came with: what more could you ask? The price is slammin'! Even with the extended warranty, the entire thing came to less than $80.00 (with Google checkout, which was also easy as pie!)! What a deal! What a country! Go ahead and buy this thing, y'all. You will not be sorry!"

"I purchased the IOGear unit to use as general backup for various files in several computers. My initial backup on the first computer worked fine, but when I connected it to the second computer I had some problems. For whatever reason IOGear has created three partitions on the drive. The second computer could not read the two which had no data. To make a long story short, I had to reformat the drive to have one partition, then did my backups and everything has been fine since. I would recommend, for a few extra bucks, getting a Maxtor One Touch III, which I have purchsed since. It comes with a very simple to use back-up program which you can use or not, and the one-button feature is very convenient and, most importantly, it works flawlessly."
