"80G is good enough to sdo something, plus this one does not get power from USB, so no need to carry a power supply, support USB2.0, good speed to transfer data. But the default setting is split the whole disk to 2 partitions, which someone else may like it but I feel it is a short for it. Compare to other brand, it is still a little too big."

"This little drive real performs...nice size, easy to use...I wish it came with a protective case...My C drive only has 25 Gigs of data, so there's plenty of room for future storage...I had some trouble downloading a rebate form for this product, so customer service mailed one to my home which surprised me, I haven't had that good of service from other electronics companies...."

"I have been using this drive now for the past couple of weeks to store music. So far, it has worked great! It is very easy to use (just plug it in to your USB and it's ready to go) and is very compact. For the price, I couldn't have asked for more out of this product."

"This drive works very well and is low priced. It is small and does not require an external power brick, all its power comes from the USB port. The USB cable is a bit short, but that works well for me. The drive is attractive and seems solidly built. It comes divided into three partitions, so it will come up as drives E, F, and G on most computers. You have to make sure it gets enough power from the USB, so if you plug it into a USB hub it should be powered. I have had no trouble connecting it to PC, Mac, and Linux systems."

"I bought this about 2 weeks ago, and have filled, emptied, encrypted, re-partitioned, and re-formatted this drive and so far it is great. I applied some velcro to the bottom of this and my notebook to double my storage on the go, or provide direct 1-to-1 data redundancy. This thing is great, and a great price. I also haven't noticed significant power usage problems while working from battery. You can't beat the price either. Good lord the price!! Cheaper than competitor's smaller sized storage solutions."

"I wanted a a protable drive to keep my music library on so I could easily move between home and work. I found the ION to be sleek and easy to slide into my bag. The short USB cable helps me avoid the "cable mess" on my desk. I recommend it."

"The unit I received has been formatted as 3 smaller drives, not as one 80 GB drive. How can I find out what to do to correct this? I haven't found any instructions to indicate that. Have other users found the same thing, or are yours formatted for a single, 80GB hard drive? Apart from this problem, the portable drive is a wonderful thing. I've had a 20GB one for some time and the 80GB is only slightly larger and I can carry much, much more with me than before. And the price was very reasonable."

"I love this IOGear 80 GB portable hard drive. It plugged in via USB 2 cable and came up automatically on all my comuters as just another drive. No need to format it! Very easy and fast to drag files and documents from and to any computer including my laptop. With the 80 GBs I went ahead and put my entire MP3 collection of close to 1,500 songs on it so I can use them where ever I go. Still have most of the hard drive space available! It works great for taking work files home and vice versa. It is very small, fits in your shirt pocket. One thing I like is that it uses power from the same USB cable so there is no power cord or transformer to mess with. Also another added feature is that the unit does not get hot while in use like some of the other portable hard drives I have use. Great buy - Great price!"

"I really like the drive and it is has 80GB in a small size which is great. The drive will fit in a front shirt pocket with no problem at all and it is light. The case is very durable as it is made of a strong aluminum design. I strongly recommend it. The value is great."

"I bought this drive for additional storage for my laptop. I wasn't too impressed with the 5400 RPM's, but for 55.00 I couldn't do better. Pros: Very durable case, lightweight, transports easily, bus powered, plug and play, pre-formatted, USB 2.0, very quiet, great quality overall. Cons: 5400 RPM, had to re-format to make NTFS (came as 3 FAT32 partitions), will not work with USB extension cable or hub (requires a lot of USB power)."
